Nadal says he needs to maintain his level at Wimbledon
- Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal today, 14 June, said he is ready to defend his Wimbledon title. He has been preparing for it in his hometown of Manacor (Mallorca) with "illusion" because "I have to try to maintain my level at this tournament".
"It's going to be difficult," said Rafa Nadal after training at the Manacor tennis club, where he has practised Monday and Tuesday after a weekend off to rest following his elimination from the Queen's tournament, also in London.
The player is really eager to be there at Wimbledon, "at the most beautiful club in the world". "I'm bucked up after this season, which has been a very good one" and "the important thing now is to be well prepared for London," he declared.
He also pointed out that he had done his work at Queen's, where he lost in the quarter finals to Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
"I spent five days on court getting used to grass and things went more or less well," Nadal stated.
The Spaniard will arrive in London tomorrow with his spirits high and with an advantage of 65 points over Serb Novak Djokovic, which keeps him at world number one, making it 100 weeks he has been there.
