World No. 1 Rafael Nadal won his 11th straight match on clay courts this year, defeating Marcos Baghdatis 6-1, 6-3 in 83 minutes on Wednesday for a place in the Mutua Madrid Open fourth round. It was his 30th match win of the season. Rafa will play Juan Martin del Potro.
Rafa Nadal has a 5-3 record against the Argentine. They only played once on clay back in 2007 at Roland Garros all other times they played on hardcourts & once on grass.

Order of Play is out & they play Thursday on Manolo Santana court not before 7 PM CEST, 6 PM BST, 1 PM EDT.

Rafa & DelPotro Head 2 Head

 Rafa had this to say:
"I think I played quite a good match, I made very few errors. I attacked a few times quite well with my drive. To sum up I’m quite happy with the match. I can’t say much more," Nadal assessed in his post match press conference.

"I have a match that normally you wouldn’t like to play in the second [match], you would normally like to play it a bit later but this is the draw."

"He has a lot of control of the ball. If I manage to get him moving and to make him feel uncomfortable then I can hurt him. It’s quite difficult to manage this because he’s very tall and from the very back he can hit very good shots but it’s true that I am in good form recently," added the defending champion.

DelPotro had this to say:

I think it's the match we have all been waiting for in this tournament, since Estoril, they all kept saying that in the third round I was going to play Nadal and there were a few days left but I do know that I would like to have Rafa as far away as possible from me, and various other players as well," del Potro told reporters after his win.
"At this level in the game, they are all very good players, all dangerous, so hopefully I will feel good tomorrow. I hope I can go out and win the match without many speculations and hopefully in some moment of my career, I will beat him on clay. I've never been capable of beating him on clay and let's see if it's tomorrow, but let me repeat that its against the No. 1 in the world and he's the best without a doubt on this type of surface."
