Rafa has made the Bloomberg Business Week Power 100 list for 2011. Other tennis players on the list are Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters, Maria Sharapova.

Rafael Nadal

Power 100 rank: 16
Rank last year: 11
Sport: ATP Tennis
Age: 24
Most recent notable achievement: Won three Grand Slam tournaments in 2010
Earnings: $26 million
Key sponsors: Nike, Armani, Richard Mille

Why he's on the list: Rafael Nadal dominated tennis last year with wins at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open. He recently missed an opportunity for the "Nadal Slam" when he was put out of the 2011 Australian Open. However, it doesn't hurt that his dark good looks have made him popular with female consumers around the globe. Indeed, Nadal is set to replace soccer star Christiano Ronaldo as the face of Armani for the spring/summer collection of Giorgio Armani underwear and Armani Jeans.

Interesting read on the "awareness factor" on Rafa in the mainstream:
This year, in fact, may well bring a turning point for Nadal's "Awareness" numbers. Last week new sponsor Giorgio Armani released the first promotional photos from an Armani jeans and Emporio Armani underwear campaign featuring the shirtless Spaniard, who is replacing Cristiano Ronaldo as the brand's face. The sexy black and white shots were an instant Internet sensation, giving "tennis whites" a whole new meaning.
