Nadal Aims To His First Qatar ExxonMobil Title

After a historic season in 2010, Rafael Nadal is aiming for his first title in Qatar ExxonMobil Open, as he looks for a good start to the new season that helps in strengthening his position at the top of ATP Ranking.

Nadal clinched three Grand Slam titles (France Open -Wimbledon -US Open), Three Masters titles (Monte Carlo- Rome – Hamburg) MADRID* and title of Tokyo Open before reaching the final of ATP World Tour Finals Championship for the first time in his career.

Rafael Nadal has overtaken Roger Federer at the top of the ATP Rankings in June and succeeded to hold on top of the world tennis rankings till the end of the year.

It is the fourth time for Nadal to participate in Qatar ExxonMobil Tennis Open. He made his debut in the 2005 edition where he reached the quarterfinals before losing to Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia.

Nadal was back to the championship in 2009 and was again knocked from quarterfinals after a disappointing defeat against Gael Sebastien Monfils.

The 2010 edition saw his best performance as he reached the final before suffering a surprise defeat against Russian Nicolay Davydenko. Despite winning the first set 6-0, the Spanish star lost the remaining two sets 6-7 4-6 to miss the chance of grabbing his first title in Doha.
