"I won already in the trunk"
Uncle Toni's AS.com Interview
In what state is Rafa?
In a good time. We had the problem before traveling to Paris and the problem is solved ... knock on wood (and literally crosses fingers ...). And nothing, waiting to play. Looks good to me.
Can you measure your status in a percentage?
I can not say, I'm not a fortune-teller. Not competing is a problem, but emotionally Rafa should be good because the year has been very good. He missed the Paris tournament, but in return, he will be fresh and physically going to be fine. Or at least I hope so.
Is this something of a unpredictable tournament? They are the last finalists, Federer is not fine, Rafa has competed little lately ...
But it is not unpredictable for that. When there are playing the top eight anything can happen. Last year, Davydenko and Del Potro played the final and seemed to be Federer-Djokovic, who came to play well from Paris. In normal tournaments as you take in the early days but here demand is high from the first day. Or play very well or you go out.
How should the strategy vary in relation to other Masters (ATP Finals now) to finally win it?
Man, we'd like to do something different from last year. We did not win even a set ... To see if this year we won't do such a limp job. But in the sport one has to know that anything can happen. You can win ... and can be very bad like ours last year.
Is Rafa with the enthusiasm and hunger that could have had before starting the U.S. Open?
Let's see, it's not so to me. Because they always ask me, 'what Rafael has done, is that our of hunger' ... That is not true. Rafael has achieved what has been achieved and that is on the court. We have it parked and what he's lacking to achieve it will be done in the next tournament that he plays
What's the opinion on the Group?
The group is not bad as it could be, but it is not so simple. In indoor play against Andy Roddick is not easy. Playing against Novak Djokovic is not easy, nor against Tomas Berdych. I prefer Berdych rather than Soderling for example, and also Murray ... But Roddick and David Ferrer are players of a similar level. And Djokovic with Soderling. The group is difficult.
Will it be icing on the season to have Masters final against Federer?
I always say the same thing. The finals I would like to be played against worst and Federer is not worst, no?
