Rafael Nadal honoured by Antares Foundation
The Antares Foundation Forum has been awarded the it's V annual award "Encounters 2000" to the Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, in an unanimous decision by the jury.This award, given by the prestigious forum of opinion and debate, will honor Nadal "for his integral contribution to society from his sporting career, both for his professional achievements as for his positive attitude and exemplary behavious, in and out of the courts", according to a statement of the entity.
Previous notables who have received this award are Federico Mayor Zaragoza, Julian Marias, Sabino Fernández Campo and Carmen Laffón.
The awards ceremony takes place on November 16 at the headquarters of the Foundation during a ceremony, and "almost certainly" Toni Nadal will collect the award, Rafa's uncle and coach, as Rafael Nadal will be playing a tournament.
In case he is unable to attend at the last minute, Rafael will send a visual message to attendees. The materiality of the prize consists of a Tartessos Lebrija Treasury candlestick, made by goldsmith workshop Marmolejo Seville.
