Rafa is Scheduled to arrive in Bangkok, Thailand to the PTT Thailand Open

Newly crowned US Open champion Rafael Nadal – the biggest sports star in the world – is now preparing for his first ever visit to the PTT Thailand Open.
Nadal’s US Open title now gives him a career Grand Slam adding to his five French Open titles, two Wimbledon titles and the Australian Open. He is one of only seven men to achieve this feat.
Before competing in the PTT Thailand Open 2010 Nadal will be taking some time off to relax and prepare so that he is fresh and ready for his Bangkok debut. Before he plays his first match in Bangkok, Nadal will participate in a tree-planting ceremony at Kasetsart University Veterinary Hospital in Hua Hin on Tuesday 28 September as part of PTT Group’s “One Million Trees for the King” anti-global warming project.
Thailand is now preparing itself to see the world’s best tennis player in action.

“I am really looking forward to playing some great tennis for the Thai fans,” said Nadal.
“Rafael Nadal is the most exciting and best player in men’s tennis,” said Executive Committee Chairman Khun Suwat Lipatapanlop, “We have waited a long time to see him play in Thailand and I am sure the wait has been worth it.”
Joining Nadal at the PTT Thailand Open 2010 will be former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro making his come back to the ATP Tour, Olympic champion Fernando Gonzalez of Chile and rising star Ernests Gublis. Other top players competing in the tournament include world #13 Jurgen Melzer and crowd favourites Feliciano Lopez, Benjamin Becker, Jarkko Nieminen and Viktor Troicki amongst others. Also confirming their participation are Indian doubles superstars and Grand Slam champions Leander Paes and Mahesh Phupathi who will be playing together in an ATP tournament for the first time in more than two years.
The PTT Thailand Open Executive Committee has also announced that the three Main Draw wildcards for the tournament have been awarded to Thai players Kittipong Wachiramanowong, Danai Udomchoke and Spaniard Marc Lopez.
The official opening ceremony for the PTT Thailand Open 2010 will be held at 6.45pm on Thursday 30 September and will be presided over by Prime Minister, the honourable Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva. The ceremony will be immediately followed by Nadal’s first singles match starting at 7pm.
