Tennis player Rafael Nadal, world number 3, has spoken to Última Hora Punto Radio, on his video clip with Shakira, on his injury, the present and future. The Spaniard was present at the "Look Who's Dancing" show but never had the fortune to spend time there at the finals like the ex-footballer and family member Miguel Angel Nadal: "I wasn't at the final, and Miguel Angel is doing very well ".
Nadal spoke in a good tone and with smiles on video recorded with Shakira: "Making this video is the bomb, we had known we were going to do it from last season, and our schedules coincided. I am delighted and grateful to Shakira, it was a positive and fun experience," said Spaniard, who nevertheless remembers that "my world is to be on court, all the other things are experiences that I have the good fortune to enjoy."
He also referred to his injury: "Everything is going according to plan, you have to be patient. I think injuries are always unwelcome. I'd done a lot of work, and in December I trained very well. I did my homework well, and the injury was a blow because not only the retirement in Australia, it's the lack of continuity. Losing to Murray in the semifinals is a correct result, but losing the rhythm has changed me more. " An additional nuance is that his injury "was not the same as I had last year".
Nadal did not shrink when asked about those who think he will retire and that he'll never be what he was: "I do not read too much, everyone has their opinion and all opinions are respectable. I will tell you that at the end of last year I wasn't ready to win a major tournament, but at the beginning of the year if I felt the highest level. I felt prepared for everything. " He added that his recovery is on the right track: "Things are going very well but we don't have to rush. My goal is to get well physically and tennis-wise at important tournaments. The normal thing is to return at Indian Wells, we'll see about Davis Cup, but not even I have decided. " [Note - article is dated February 19!]
The Spaniard went further when he said that "I am confident to have a good clay court season, I think that this will be the moment to push it, and this is my intention. Monte Carlo is a good place for trying to make a good start."
